@siracusa Same, seeing that multiple times a week with my AirPod 3s paired to my iPhone 14 Pro
@FilmNoirPosters I like how even tho Monroe is perfectly recognizable here you can tell the artist hadn’t had the benefit of having seen hundreds of photos of her yet. It’s more a drawing of the person than the icon.
@jesusmargar How I was reading it was that Fox was so shocked by it that she focused on that, not on the insult to her friend. But it’s an imperfect scene. Wanda does at least talk about this moment in the next issue, and asserts who she is, not to Thessaly but to George (The Face on the Wall). That scene I like better, it really sums up the the theme of Gods being fallible
@jesusmargar That’s a good point, I see what you mean by unchecked. To me it feels believable that Hazel and Foxglove don’t push back because the news of Hazel’s pregnancy is such a shock, but I think you’re right that there’s an element of queer solidarity missing in their reactions. That does make it a little less believable, and it seems like something that a queer author might not have missed.

@jesusmargar People have had a range of reactions to Wanda’s story over the years and I don’t wanna invalidate any of them. But what I always liked about it is that I don’t think the story wants us to agree with Thessaly there.

One of the main themes of Sandman is that gods and immortals can be wrong. I think Thessaly and the Moon Goddess(es) misgendering Wanda is meant to draw attention to that. Barbie on the other hand sees Wanda for who she is, and it’s Barbie’s story arc.

@Cdespinosa Right? What in the world was that? I was listening to the radio broadcast and halfway through that it was as if I could hear Jon Miller tapping his foot in frustration at how hard they were making his job
@Cdespinosa yeah this is great baseball. Almost turned it off in frustration in the 5th after the Nth fly ball out. Glad I didn’t.
@charliejane I’m still sad Cronenberg’s Eastern Promises didn’t start a trend of bathhouse knife fights in the nude. I would’ve enjoyed the chance to get as sick of that as I am of kitchen fight scenes
@smallsco @ruawhitepaw Yes! I'd love to see this archived on http://macintoshgarden.org

@meakoopa There’s a wonderful, typically batshit episode of classic Doctor Who where a Soviet solider repels an aquatic vampire with his hammer & sickle pin and his faith in communism. I thought that was so original, fascinating to see it’s more or less straight Dracula canon.
