Umso wichtiger ist es, innezuhalten und vorläufige Bilanzen zu ziehen über die Erfahrungen der letzten zweieinhalb Jahre, so wie es die H-Soz-Kult-Redaktion mit diesem Forum zur Virtualisierung der wissenschaftlichen Kommunikation anregt, die die Routinen des Lehrens, Forschens und (Selbst-)Verwaltens gehörig durcheinandergebracht hat. Was im Frühjahr 2020 unter hohem Druck zur Improvisation und mit vielen Befürchtungen begann – Lehrveranstaltungen, Dienstbesprechungen, Konferenzen am Bildschirm – all das war für die Mehrzahl der Angehörigen von Universitäten und Forschungsinstituten neu und gewöhnungsbedürftig.
