Anybody can write a story about two ‘old stagers’ (though the Mini was only 18yrs old here), but how many magazines can create a cover like this?
Just CAR.
It takes creative genius to convince & develop such a cover & it’s a testament to the magazine’s roll call of great Art Editors (in the case Wendy Harrop) & Richard Davies (who was responsible for the cover).
This looks as good today as when it was fresh on the newsstand…
To say that I’m extraordinarily proud of this would be an understatement. One of my oldest and dearest friends on the bridge of his ship - and I got to write about it.
And you can read about it on the Telegraph app today, or online here: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/cars/features/telegraph-christmas-road-test-hunt-class-mine-countermeasures/ [reg req’d]
For thousands of years, fermenting beer was considered a household task for #women.
By the Middle Ages, some sold beer at English markets. Female brewers wore tall, pointy hats to be easily spotted. They stood by cauldrons & often had cats to keep mice away.
Sound familiar? It should.
You see, when male brewers felt threatened, they accused the women of witchcraft. These rumors may have led to some witch iconography we still recognize today.
