@griffinkate the main ingredient in any natural fermentation is patience. The second one care.
@draliceevans perhaps because being an "entrepreneur", meaning a risk taker, is seen as a good thing. Even in the knowledge we only tell the stories of the survivors. Even when it is while managing other people's pensions.
@owen It seems to me that the term "social media" is too broad and covers totally different functions. Facebook used to be friends and family, but started doint news and politics, and finally funny movies too. Success is when they do this function well. Losing next generation when they want to be everything to everyone. If you start now communicating with friends, whatsapp or signal are the way to go, facebook is just not good at it anymore. Tiktok is more fun to watch than Youtube.
@draliceevans I think it is important to take the concept of preference falsification on board, including the resentment it creates. To learn to manage political evolutions and fall out. It was new to me. https://open.spotify.com/episode/2otokINIF90gDlpbPxeGfk?si=D0nZFD9NQCuEyNbesxDDIw&utm_source=copy-link
A Conspiracy of Silence

Listen to this episode from Hidden Brain on Spotify. We all self-censor at times. We keep quiet at dinner with our in-laws, or nod passively in a work meeting. But what happens when we take this deception a step further, and pretend we believe the opposite of what we really feel? In this favorite episode from 2020, economist and political scientist Timur Kuran explains how our personal, professional and political lives are shaped by the fear of what other people think. If you like this show, please check out our new podcast, My Unsung Hero! @[email protected] @marcfbellemare to be honest, I like some trust. But mostly based on built reputation in what is said, done. Many people prefer anon, because they need to seperate their different spheres of life. So no, legal verification is not that important. However, you could contribute and boast on it to improve your reputation.
My objective is not to recreate twitter as it is now, to broadcast widely every opinion, but to create a network of challenging knowledge and informed debate.
I hope that we could now all move on. I did not come to Mastodon to hear about #elonmusk, to be honest, neither to hear about Mastodon.
@arindube @paulgp @dynarski is it worthwhile to migrate?
@[email protected] @marcfbellemare apparently just noting who paid up could be as good a verification as what twitter is doing now.
Half the people I follow are on social, the other half on econtwitter. Should I migrate to find a google reader like community, or is it not worth the hassle? @owen , @marcfbellemare, @draliceevans, @m_clem
