When I tell people about my time at NWS Marquette I say "we even got 5 inches of snow on MAY FIRST"

That is, uh, no longer impressive, apparently. Today's 19.8 inches utterly shatters that record!

Also missing, although I don't have a source offhand to quantify with, is how the reported 15% increase in turbulence compares with what is very likely a long term decrease in observed turbulence thanks to better avoidance techniques.

This @NPR story I keep hearing about turbulence increasing in a warming climate really shouldn't cite Lufthansa 469. Flying through convection != clear air turbulence!

The written version of the story even does a good job of explaining CAT! But they then immediately cite a non-CAT example.

@yeri I'll have to ask around. In the meantime I've tried streaming more on my phone but haven't gotten the same drop-off in speeds there yet. But only for a minute or two... I probably need to try streaming something for a longer time

@yeri I don't even have an ethernet port on this laptop. I'd have to go out and buy an adapter 😩

Anyone else use #GoogleFiber and have issues with them throttling you? If I start streaming anything on my computer my speeds plummet to less than 10 mbps. Simply restarting the router fixes it, but it's a daily occurrence and it's getting very annoying.

I ran Windows Update and checked my network drivers are up to date. The router is less than 5 feet from my laptop. Speeds remain high on my phone; it's just my laptop.

In this time California averaged 8.61 inches of precipitation and the San Francisco-Oakland metropolitan statistical area averaged 13.34 inches.

The fact the NFL’s initial reaction was “you have 5 minutes to get ready” says so much. That’s so beyond cruel. Thankfully the teams stepped in because of all the awful decisions the NFL makes, that’s one of the worst and most egregious I’ve seen.
