Reminder now that Ukraine might need to retreat from Bakhmut: A tactical defensive is normal within a strategic offensive. The war is back to an attritional phase, and the smart thing to do for #Ukraine is to take the defensive position until the Russian offensive culminates. We should all prepare mentally that Ukraine will probably lose territory over the coming months.
