Portugal registou, no triénio 2022–2024, uma taxa de mortalidade infantil de 2,8 óbitos por 1.000 nados-vivos, abaixo da média da União Europeia, que se situa nos 3,3 óbitos por 1.000 nados-vivos. A componente neonatal representou a maior proporção destes óbitos, destacando a importância do período perinatal, segundo o Relatório da Mortalidade Fetal e Infantil 2022-2024, publicado hoje pela Direção-Geral da Saúde (DGS).
