I’m here for the quilting. Please tell me there’s quilting.
She, her
I finished my new work bag. This was a hard make for me because I used a pattern from an old book, and I have limited experience with bag making. I'm glad to have a non-plastic washable bag. The process of making a bag always clarifies what I think would make a better bag, so I immediately want to make another one. No time, though, I have other sewing commitments to get to. Next up: a couch pillow in certain dimensions that my family has been asking for.
Mini quilt of the day: daughter’s dragon coaster. #quilting
My holiday card/mug rug for the day.
The quilt in this photo is about comfort and love, but lately I’ve been thinking about protest quilts. I’ve seen awesome protest quilts about gun violence and lack of abortion access. I’m imagining what a protest quilt might look like in February 2025: a black wave, a sinkhole? A wood chipper gnawing up hearts and lives? I don’t like any of these ideas. They are too small, too awful to live with, and not quite right.
The quilt and gift tote I made for my father last summer. The quilt is a Zen Chic pattern called Faded. The tote bag (my first ever) was made with an old paper pattern I found at the thrift store- McCalls or Simplicity.
Here are some work in progress photos of my Ipanema bag. I shopped from my stash. School colors are black and orange.
My son recently brought me some clothes to mend in a rusty wire box. I’m sensed them back mended in this new bag I made using the free pattern from Birch Fabrics: Ipanema Beach Bag. I’ve had a lot of fun making the bag, but I haven’t gotten around to the mending yet—- priorities ya know
I have been using Meta socials to focus on my favorite thing, quilting, and it’s time to look around at other options because my conscious is pricking me. So, hello Mastodon, take me to your Quilters.
