@godlessmom Because unfortunately health care is big business and the mindset of our most powerful people is to extract as much wealth from others any way they can. What better way than your health/life. It's a disgusting system that unfortunately is unlikely to improve.

@godlessmom I'm not sure that democracy ever existed in the US. From the start only a small part of the populace had voting rights. We only vote on representatives, not actual laws. It seems that all politicians are bought by some other powerful person or group. The whole thing seems like a really big, long running reality show to distract the workers from what our nobles (wealthy people) are doing. Effectively little different than the systems of the past.

@godlessmom @bbouts Sounds more like you'll be taking on minor partners. I think all businesses should be like this. Unfortunately many/most businesses only focus on profits. Exploiting workers is almost as profitable as exploiting customers. They love getting paid on both ends.

@godlessmom I've had a similar attitude about it since I was a teenager and old enough to question it. I'm sure it's something our conservatives forced on us. They have this weird dichotomy of supposed unquestionable loyalty to America while at the same time hating everything it stands for. This spills over to their leadership, both state and church. They even have Christian flags and pledges.
