@imyke I would love to know how many more $100 dev accounts Apple is selling than they typically do? They might be fine with a slew of vibe coded apps getting put on the App Store.

@njpozner @dmoren @dennis_eaton Same. I’m guessing because I use it less, but it’s shocking that after all these years it will never catch up. I honestly don’t understand why it’s an issue.
@stroughtonsmith granted. This is super low stakes. All the data is in users personal iCloud. So I don’t really have the potential to have some bad back end code leak their data.
@stroughtonsmith these tools are amazing. I’ve always dabbled, but was never a serious coder. I had a small project I’ve wanted to do for a while, but it would have just taken too much time for someone like me to work out. Started fairly simple. Tracked how much value I was getting from my AMC A-List movie sub. Now it’s got iCloud sync, recaps, tons of stats, pulls data from TMDB, per theater notes and specs. People asked for it, so I put it on the App Store. Have close to 500 subs now. Wild.
@atpfm My Apple ID issue wasn’t nearly as bad as what you spoke about on ATP, but it really shook my confidence. I have an AppleID that dates back to the .mac days. Never a single issue. My digital life is in it. This year I tried to upgrade to a paid dev account. Got an error message to contact support. Support told me there was an id issue and nothing could be done. For “privacy reasons” even escalated support couldn’t help me. Made me realize how little power we have when there is an issue.
@caseyliss I had hopes the vapor chamber in the 17Pro would help with outdoor usage in the sun, but had a feeling it wouldn’t help much when the heat is coming from outside the phone.

@imyke @jsnell Imagine the first time you are having a disagreement with your significant other and the Apple robot chimes in with who is correct. The second it chimes in to tell my wife I’m right about something that thing is hitting the trash 😂
Could make for some very entertaining indoor camera recordings though.

@gruber Really curious to see how this plays out. I think it all comes down to how reliably Apple can detect this versus a real iPhone. If they can’t right now, I’m sure they could via a software update. If it needs a software update, how do non updated, by choice and by device age, handle this? I imagine the real difficulty may be blocking this without blocking legit users.
