Reading List - Wars of the Roses

Books recommended for reading about the wars of the roses, key players especially Richard III and his immediate family.

Wars of the Roses
2 October 1452, the birth of Richard Plantagenet to Cecily Neville and Richard Duke of York at Fotheringhay Castle. He would grow up to be Richard III. In his Book of Hours, now at the Lambeth Palace Library, his birth is noted, possibly in his own hand.
In the 1470s and 80s Edward IV and Richard III both attempted to take custody of the exiled Henry Tudor. There has long been confusion over who the Yorkist kings sent to carry out this task. In the first of two blogposts on the topic, Research Officer Marie Barnfield unravels Polydore Vergil's misleading account of an attempted extradition and explains why scholars no longer believe Bishop Stillington was involved.
