@Rozzychan @RandomSmashGuy73 Well sure, if you live on Earth or another core Federation world. But we’ve seen plenty of crapsack planets in Star Trek. For that matter, not every planet in Star Wars is Tattooine. I’d wager that Alderaan and Naboo were pretty nice places to live in the days of the Old Republic.

I have seen many, many science fiction shows and movies, and there are precious few places that I would like to live, but the Star Trek universe is one of them.

Star Wars - dystopia for all without magic

Blade Runner - No way

The Expanse - Almost livable

That's why the setting is the thing that captivates me. #startrek

@RandomSmashGuy73 I recently watched The Original Series, which was anything but utopian (for women, at least), so I'm perhaps biased at the moment.

But one thing that HAS been front and centre of Star Trek since its inception, is challenging HOW people think, so I'm going with philosophical discussion. Even TOS took some admirable cracks at that.
