I spent a lot of time researching and writing up this blog post about the history of Narcissus from #greekmythology. I'm really proud of myself, so I thought I'd share!

Was Narcissus really a villain?

I'm sure most people reading this are familiar with the story of Narcissus and Echo. The general structure is that the handsome Narcissus wa...

I feel like every time I really get going on my art, something happens to stop me.

This is a post about being bedridden sick.

I'm working on a comic adaptation of "Sir Orfeo", and it's wild how perfect "Uncle John's Band" feels at the top of my inspiration playlist.
A lot of bad things happened to me last year, and it's the first year that I genuinely feel that the most impressive accomplishment of mine is that I survived.

I just realized that my favorite part of writing fiction isn't necessarily the characters, or the plot, though both of these are important and fun. It's the description. I love sitting down and writing multiple paragraphs describing a monstrous boar. Or perfectly capturing the tense air of expectation in a palace as the servants wait for the king's return.

This definitely comes from my love of writing poetry.

I don't want to put hours upon hours of effort into another piece of writing that no one cares about. I wish I didn't mind, but I really do.
Gritting my teeth and repeating "Writers' block isn't real; it can't hurt me" while I stare at a blank word processor document.

It's hard to be motivated on longer #writing projects when I can't show people anything. I also won't be able to show anyone a finished work once I'm done, since I'm working on a backlog of comic scripts so I don't need to worry about my artist while I write other stuff.

How do you guys keep going?

Happy Hallowtide to everyone!
