@alibenjamin thanks so much for making me so welcome!
@maestrmuti thanks so much — how lovely to read! I find medical artists fascinating. There’s a fascinating story behind every one of them!
@JayneE_R There seem to be plenty of us! There’s also a model Paul Craddock in California, and a metal-expert Paul Craddock at the British Museum!
@OliverC transfusions ARE transplants, I would say! Especially in the era An Instance of the Fingerpost was set, when transfusions were often thought of as personality/soul/humour/trait transplants!
Today at the Type Archive, we’re filming Ian at the composition caster and Barry at the keyboard. It’s immensely touching to glimpse this dying art and I can’t tell you how much I’m loving being a historian/film maker at the moment, with @tara_bulten and @hannahkiralfy.
Hello Mastodon! This is an #introduction. I’m a writer (book: Spare Parts, which is a history of transplant surgery from the sixteenth century to the present day (yes, they did transplants back then!) Published by Penguin in the UK and Australia, and St Martin’s in North America. Before this, I was a film maker. Actually, I still am, working mostly with museums, universities and healthcare institutions. I’m so excited to learn about and connect with you all!
