Everything that’s been going on has been insane. I’ve been thinking it’s all in my pain. But it’s all of ours. Everyone I know thinks they’re on an island. They are starving. But there are lush fields from ear to ear right between us. There’s no harsh waves. We’re not insane. It’s just the world we are living in. Enjoying the space and pace. Im just posting some of the artwork that’s been keeping me going.
History of ArtTwo paintings originally known as ‘Tempête’ and ‘Calme’ (Storm and Calm), were commissioned as a pair by Stanislas Augustus, King of Poland, in 1772. However, Vernet instead sold them to the British officer and East India Company official Lord Clive.
These are two of Vernet’s greatest #marine paintings and the type of work for which he was most famous in his day.
