A fairly close image of M45, the Pleiades. I usually like to use one of my smaller scopes and get more sky around it. And I'm sure I will do that, too, as the season goes on.

Messier 27 - Dumbbell Nebula - STARLESS

is a bright planetary nebula in the constellation Vulpecula about 1,200–1,360 light-years away and reaches its annual culmination at astronomical midnight and is best observed around late July each year from mid-northern latitudes.

I paired up my Astro-modified EOS 600D with a Skywatcher Evostar 72ed as an alternative to the cooled monochrome camera paired with the F7 102ed triplet in which I have been enjoying the last few years. It’s sometimes nice to have a change of gear and focal length for a different perspective on some of my favourite seasonal targets. Shown here is the Veil Nebula Complex and the Heart Nebula including the Fish Head Nebula.

The Flaming Star nebula in Auriga is interesting because of its prominent combination of emission (red) and reflection (blue) nebula components.

About an hour each of R,G and B, captured in January. Subject deserves more image capture time, but this was a test while experimenting with some aspects of capture automation.

The Andromeda galaxy and its companions M33 and M110.
Captured over a couple of nights in late October this year. 3.5 hrs of integrated 180sec exposures using LRGB filters. #astrophotography #Astrodon #Astronomy

There are so many galaxies in my latest image :D
This is the second big project with my new RC 8" and the first after tweaking the collimation a bit. Stars are looking quite good actually.

Integration Time: 180 x 120s = 6 h

I've been taking a little bit of a break from astro stuff lately due to mental health and getting a bit frustrated by having a few too many failed attempts from technical glitches.

I was hoping I might be able to get the scope out tonight again, but the forecast isn't looking great. But I have a backlog of data I haven't done much with, so I figured I work on that instead.

Here's the Helix Nebula (NGC 7293), a.k.a., the Eye of God or Eye of Sauron

The beautiful Heart Nebula center, IC 1805. Captured over a couple nights this month. Ha and Oiii narrowband 50x300sec.

Captured over two nights this July, the Elephant Trunk #nebula is one of my favourite nebulas to capture. This year I used Ha and Olll narrowband filters to create this bicolour image. 3.5 hours of integrated 5 minute exposures. I rotated the image to this angle to show the dragon-like appearance.
