After 15 years in the field, I made it into management today. Small/medium business the entire time. I am now the helpdesk lead, as my boss put it, he's IT Ops Director, I am day to day manager now. I got the keys to the Amazon and Dell accounts today.

We replace every 4-5 years. And honestly, by the 5th year a clean install is very much needed so easier to upgrade them that start from scratch.

The problem is Windows/Mac software. We work in a world where Adobe/Autodesk is a requirement, so we will never get off windows.
Outlook, Word, Teams, WIndows running eats about 16GB ram now.
TBH, 11th gen has already slowed down enough with Windows 11 and modern office that we are standard issuing 32GB ram to office employees now.
