Oklahoman. Old. Tired. Live in the countryside with dog, cats and partner. Despite all its many, many problems, I like living in Oklahoma. Plan to die here.

@MissConstrue @darwinwoodka @mcnado @ai6yr I'm sorry you're having a bad day. Hopefully it gets better soon.

I'm a newly retired boomer. I don't qualify for soc sec yet. I was certain that it wouldn't exist for me when I retired. My partner, also just retired, is getting soc sec. They were also certain that it wouldn't exist. We had lots of reasons: people were living longer & skyrocketing healthcare costs. It turns out it is there for us. I'm still holding out hope for the next generations.

@blogoklahoma Very surprised it was this close, although I've read more than a few speculations about Roberts engineering a 4-4 decision.
@dealingwith Well done, Walter!
As expected a lot of storm spotters active today in Oklahoma. I've found the number of active storm spotters is a good metric for the expected severity. #StormSpotters #StormChasers #Oklahoma

>>In Congressional appropriations hearings for the Department of Homeland Security, lawmakers pressed Secretary Kristi Noem for details about the big FEMA cuts. In those remarks and in following interviews, some Republicans signaled caution on the slash-and-burn of the federal government’s emergency response to disasters.<<

Cole and Fellow Republicans Are Uneasy About Trump’s Slash-and-Burn at FEMA

Many Republicans in Congress are uncomfortable with the Trump administration’s proposed overhaul of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and some of them are going public with their concerns.

>>The nearly 10,000-acre patch of land located near El Reno in western Oklahoma has been under federal government control since the 1800s and was once used for military purposes. It is now home to a Department of Agriculture center whose research includes forage, hydraulics and livestock. But for decades, the federally recognized Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes have fought for the land to be transferred back to them.<<

These Tribes Want a Key Piece of Oklahoma Land Returned

The Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes have sought the return of the land on which Fort Reno is situated. U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas is opposed, but the tribes might have an ally in Trump’s cabinet.

Now that Eurovision is over time to switch to Oklahoma’s favorite television show: Live tornado coverage.

@calbearo Sasha is an exceptionally polite feline.
@blogoklahoma Imagine that: our elected officials made it easy to gouge Oklahoman home owners, and some even lie about it being due to our weather. I do sometimes wonder if it weren't for culture warring and corruption whether Oklahoma's state government would ever accomplish anything.

New, by me: Dating app Raw (which this week said it's planning to release a hardware wearable for tracking partners' emotions) claims to use end-to-end encryption.

But when we tried the app this week, I found it was exposing users' location data and personal information to the web — no password needed.

Exclusive: Dating app Raw exposed users' location data and personal information

The app claims it uses end-to-end encryption, but spilled its users' dating preferences and granular location data to the open web.
