My pronouns are it/its, and skull/skulls. You can use either :)

I'm a trans, nonbinary, aroace autistic werewolf who likes taking pictures of plants, mushrooms, and any animals that will hold still long enough.

Newest collected cane / native bamboo plant! I got the rhizome cutting on August 10th, and was finally able to put it in a container yesterday on the 22nd. It's spent the intervening time in a plastic shopping bag with damp paper towels. It seems to have enjoyed it: it's got very vigorously growing new shoots!

The plant it came from was found on the side of a road next to a cow farm, completely submerged in water.

In retrospect, it makes perfect sense that the "lesser evil" party would collapse over something like supporting genocide.

Those of us who understand the illegitimacy of the "lesser evil" idea have known forever that there is no "greater" or "lesser" evil; just evil, itself.

But nothing quite exemplifies this like genocide. There's no "genocide lite". You can't be "against" genocide but totally okay if its happening and you're funding it.

DNC vote on Israel arms embargo will be the next Democratic Party showdown over Palestine

At its summer meeting, the Democratic National Committee will vote on two rival resolutions concerning Gaza. The competing proposals highlight the growing divide over Israel within the Democratic Party.

@McNeely yeah most people who claim to be progressive don't know the meaning of the word "solidarity"
Now AI companies are scraping our "worthless" art to train billion-dollar generators. Apparently our work was valuable enough to steal, just not valuable enough to pay for. It's like being robbed by someone who insists they're doing you a favor by "increasing your exposure."
on a scale of 1 to "still silenced on the iNaturalist forums over a month later" how terrified are the iNaturalist staff of your very existance as someone who thinks generative AI misinformation and bullying are bad? Lol.

I'm STILL silenced in the iNat forums because I'm just that powerful and terrifying to the AI-shilling staff, but here's a good post. https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/ai-suggestions-in-fungal-observations/69297

AI Suggestions in Fungal Observations

I apologize if this matter has been beleaguered elsewhere. At the risk of repetition, I’m posting it here. I am a fungal curator on the site. To say I routinely come across thousands of misidentified observations, whose misidentifications can only be explained by iNaturalist’s rampant and wildly inaccurate AI-based suggestions, would be an understatement. I would conservatively estimate that upwards of 90% of all of iNat’s fungal observations – which, at the time of writing, amounts to 16.4 ...

iNaturalist has a lot of gall asking for donations while taking Google's money to greenwash their generative AI

Maybe next time ask for more money for selling out the very users who let you exist in the first place đŸ¤£

@Moss I tried watching that while petsitting a few weeks ago, it got so bad and boring I started skipping through 90% of the episodes
