Tea in a mug I’m going to have to keep because there’s a crack around part of the top handle join. Woe is me, etc, etc.
Spent this morning hanging out and taking photos of pots in our tiny village church which has gorgeous lighting but I completely froze my arse off. BBbrrrrr.
Slightly mixed bag with this last kiln opening - a couple of failures to learn from but also enough for me to open my little Etsy shop, hopefully next week. Eep!
Took the plunge this week (in #pottery terms) and bought a proper weighty banding wheel instead of my £12 plastic cake turntable from Hobbycraft.
Game: changed.
So much spin. Had no clue that it would be this different, but oh my heavens. Bearings ftw.

I’d been hearing about the coal-mine protests in Germany, but this photo by Sean Gallup is the first that gave me a real sense of the titanic size of the thing and what’s being protested. Just… unreal.
She really did have kittens. In the box. ❤️

Started listening to the For Flux Sake #pottery podcast today and I am now very invested in minerals and chemistry in a way that would have my GCSE chemistry teacher, tiny Miss Scott, rolling her eyes and wondering why it’s taken this long.

Sorry Miss Scott! But one of my happiest school memories was that day you exploded through the lab door into absolute chaos, twenty minutes late for the lesson, clutching a cardboard box, and declared that you had kittens. It was awesome.

In the fourth grade, we had a box of classroom calculators we were very occasionally allowed to use during math class.

"You can't use them all the time because you're not always going to have a calculator with you when you're an adult," our teacher said.

I feel vindicated every time I use my phone to do simple math.
