Conservatism of the Left.

Faithful adherence to 19th century theory does not prepare us for 21st century threats.
As discussed elsewhere in recent days, this is what it means to talk about prefigurative anything. If our doctrinal narratives do not prefigure 21st century modes of care and solidarity, our praxis cannot prefigure resistance to 21st century modes of the reactionary.
Find a 19th century anarchist or socialist whose doctrine and praxis prefigured access to community for children and groups otherwise prefiguratively marginalized by mechanisms other than their relation to labor or the state.
Heck, if one digs deep enough into the archive, will certainly find some. Now find the resistance of their contemporaries to any deviation from, any refiguration of, the doctrinal narratives of 19th century Leftism.
This is prefiguration: the conserved narrative weight of centuries of doctrine and practice that is the horizon for which narratives are and are not configurable.
Openness to age verification in left-of-center spaces is one such configuration.
