Rogers or Adeniran?
Now he's been called into his first #USMNT camp. It's a great opportunity for a talented player.
It's also another illustration of how the USL Championship can offer a pathway to top young players into Europe, and visibility that earns this sort of opportunity.
Rogers succeeded at HamKam, and Energy FC transferred him after the end of his loan.
He was subsequently transferred to Rosenborg. Yes, 26-time Norwegian First Division title winner, Rosenborfg. And he succeeded there as well.
Rogers was a top prospect at Seattle Sounders FC. He made 64 appearances for Tacoma Defiance, the club's USL Championship organization.
But he wanted to get to Europe, and that meant needing First Team minutes. The Sounders couldn't offer that.
So he went to OKC Energy FC. He played 12 games there. And then he was sent on loan to Norwegian club HamKam.
The #USMNT announced its squad for its January friendlies today. Obviously, it's great to see 2021 USL Championship Young Player of the Year Jonathan Gomez selected.
But what about the other player in this picture? That's Sam Rogers. He's a player that took the same route as Gomez, but to much less fanfare.
