I'll agree with #TimHoward and #Donovan, MLS is defensively poor because best signings are attackers, not defenders.

It is done this way because they need to sell seats with stars, but at least the tide is slowly equilibrating (Lloris, Alba, etc).

Until they add relegation, to me it will be always an inferior, C-Class, entertainment-driven, retirement sunday league.

Honestly I hope an #MLS opportunity is not on the horizon. First, if Sac Republic has to pay a $$$ half billion dollar expansion fee, that sounds like tickets and beer are going to get a lot more expensive. Second, I like what #USL is trying for with pro/rel and building an open pyramid where any city could potentially (potentially) field a pro team that competes at the highest level. It would be a shame for Sacramento to bail on that. I know for the owners an MLS team is worth more money. But is it actually better for soccer in #Sacramento? Why not focus on launching a women's pro team, either in NWSL or USL Super? Wouldn't that grow the #soccer base more, add more to our soccer infrastructure, drive more attendance to the awesome new stadium and more sales of said tickets and beers, etc? #fedifc

Can't say I love the mayor of Sacramento saying "We also know an MLS opportunity is on the horizon" considering the trouble the Whitecaps are having in Vancouver.

Wonder how Sacramento fans feel about that? @aggiepm
