It's a reductive argument, but the bottom line is that we must be ready to deploy, engage, and destroy our enemies in close combat. Someone that is afraid of a shot will flinch back from the fight we are in.
We relinquish many rights to serve, but as long as the trust (that the government will honor its promises) holds true, then I will accept that compact.
