Great to see the #EduTooter hash tag getting some traction.
Of you're interested in connecting with (largely uk) teachers and educators, its a great start point.
Reblogging posts from good people also helps connect a positive experience.
So how is #SATsWeek working this year then if there’s a #BankHoliday on the day the GPS test is supposed to be?
Shift everything a day?
Move them to the next week?
Sack off GPS? (This one, please!)
#Edutooter folk:
To boost the speed of migration reconnection choose 'reblog' over 'favourite'
this will promote the people you follow into timelines connected to you.
Someone just came to me with an idea and I kinda like it and are willing to do it but I want your opinion first!
Many people are following the 'famous' from Twitter to Mastodon but are having a hard time finding them..
I just bought the domain 'officials.social' and I could setup and invite only instance for more 'high profile' people so to say so everyone can more easily find them?
Before I proceed I like your input❤️
I feel we’re all just gingerly feeling things out at this point, keeping our twitter accounts open for the time being and wondering, hoping even, that this becomes a place we can all start to call home.
Very odd sensation. Which is odd in itself. Because this is just social media; it’s just a place online where I type characters. But it feels very…bittersweet, almost.
But even though they might seem unfamiliar or perhaps a bit peculiar, these social norms are important. They helped make the Fediverse the cozy, blooming garden in the first place.
I think, and I hope you agree, that it's worth keeping it that way.
So please, don't take it the bad way when someone asks you to put a CW on something, or add an alt-text to an image. These are small asks. And with the post (hah!) edit function you can even fix it afterwards.
Let's be excellent to each other. 💜
It's also important to recognize that like any large change to a social space, and like other such migrations before, this is making many of us old-timers here somewhat anxious.
Plenty of fedi people had quit
to find respite from the toxicity. So, a social contract of sorts emerged here.
It includes things that might be unfamiliar to the new arrivals — like broad use of Content Warnings ("CW" under the edit box) and expectation that images have alt text for the visually impaired.
