This is a good point, but honestly I wouldn't say I deliberately gave up male privilege, though. In my mind I never fully had it in the first place because everyone kept telling me I was doing "male" the wrong way. My father was the worst about it. Telling me that crying so often was a sign of weakness and that I'd never have a good career because of it. But losing the privilege I did have was, indeed, totally worth it!
Talking to someone in Discord, he said that the right wing in the US is starting to use language that says only they are real Americans and this language is meant to rationalize violence against everyone else. I responded that they've been using language like that for decades already, and the time to worry about their language is long past. We have now reached the stage of actual violence against people. It's too late to worry about their language.
A friend posted this on Discord and I found it very powerful, especially that first line about our two days a year. I wish I could get every cis person to read this and understand that our community is truly threatened and stands alone right now. We need others to be willing to stand with us!

Before I met other trans people I was horribly unsure of myself. I vacillated back and forth and tried so hard not to be trans, and because of this I thought that I wasn't really trans. But I actually built up the courage to go to an in person social event for trans people and the catharsis was so strong that I broke down in tears in my car afterwards because I finally felt like I was understood by people and really belonged somewhere.
