High school English teacher in Egypt who gleefully assigns books that would piss off the Republicans in my birth country.
Ok, friends - I am in search of recommendations. My writing brain is stuck. So, I have decided to give it a rest for 2023 and just read. I want to read a wide variety of books I have never read before. So, this is where you come in. What should I add to my list? What books have you been unable to put down? What books have you learned from? What books made you laugh, cry, get angry, escape, or imagine a world not our own?
Fiction or nonfiction - I'm interested in all of it. What say you?

@Mrfunkedude #today I posted a message to all of my high school students thanking them for making this such an enjoyable school year (really, I mean it - I love those kids).
The rest of my day will be spent enjoying the company of my siblings and aging mom and step dad before we kids all go back to our regular places in the world this week.

I am so lucky to live in a city with a world-class library. I took my AP Seminar class on a field trip to the Bibliotheque Alexandrina yesterday, where the extraordinary professionals guided them through the resources they can use for their research. I was in my happy place (even when we were in the stack section with the same textbooks I used in law school). The kids loved it. I encourage everyone to visit bibalex.org
