I have no idea what I'm doing - want to join?
25.6.2026
I just cancelled a trip to Germany because of the heat. This is as far as I remember the first time that I change plans because it's too hot - too much snow, too much rain, too stormy, sure. But heat, I haven't had that before and I would like to have that documented somewhere.

@th I'm missing an Ä with three dots #iykyk

@Dany Ah, thanks, I missed that! Shouldn't they inform their customers about it in this case as well?
(come to think of it, it might also have been the hotel's systems that could have been compromised)

So I just got a phishing message on Whatsapp that claimed to be coming from an accommodation I have booked through Booking.com in Germany in 2 weeks. They wanted me to "reconfirm my booking" because Booking.com "flagged my booking as suspicious".
They had my name, phone number, booking dates and name of the accomodation.

Seems like Booking.com had a data leak - how come that didn't make the news?

Once again, my professional recommendation in response to the latest Linux kernel vulnerability in the news is that you should gather up all your electronic devices, cast them into the sea, and retreat to the woods.

Each night, gather your children and tell them tales of the Before Times when the hubris of humanity grew so large that we made idols of sand and spoke to them as equals. Remind them that the sand, of course, did not speak or think, but we imagined it could, and let it guide us to folly.

Should a stranger ever come to your village with a glowing rectangle, encourage the youth to beat them with sticks.

@Dany I think I had something similar a couple of years ago, annoying that it hasn't improved.... Can you file a complaint in the ING app for that? Those do get looked at and acted upon!
