I am excited and humbled to announce that I won the 2022 Chester Penn Higby Prize for my article on Turkish-German migration, awarded by the @[email protected] Modern Europe Section and @[email protected]. You can read it for free in the Journal of Modern History (link+abstract below).

First day of the semester! Teaching “Nazi Germany” and a senior research seminar on “Global Migrations.” Happy to share syllabi.
Train is delayed coming back from #AHA23, and tomorrow is the first day of the semester, and my syllabi aren’t printed yet. I have dreamt (nightmared?) about this moment for years, and now it is manifesting.
Important #AHA23 takeaway — The Marriott has the best hotel gym I have ever been to. Still no barbells, though, so 8/10. One day I will find a hotel gym with barbells.
Our panel “Transatlantic Hate” at #AHA23 starts at 3:30pm, with @[email protected] and @[email protected], and sponsored by @[email protected]. I will present on the transatlantic ties of German neo-Nazis and the nexus between fascism and homosexuality in the 1980s-90s. @[email protected]
Raise your hand if you’re going to the AHA conference this weekend! 🤚 @[email protected]
What are the top-tier undergraduate journals for history students to publish in?

Just taught my last class of the semester. I will really miss the students in my senior seminar on “Researching Genocide.” All 9 of them are dedicated and passionate historians, and we built such a close community. It was a once-in-a-career experience, and I am so grateful.
A post-Thanksgiving treat: @[email protected]’s book has arrived!
