Bringing indigenous plants and their fauna back to our landscapes. Western Allegheny Pleateau. Erie/Mosopelea/Seneca/Shawnee/Lenape/Osage land
Seed Grown Roundleaf Groundsel (Packera obovata) and Crested Iris (Iris cristata) brighten the spring garden with #nativeplants , with colors of the #ukraine flag, Western Allegheny Plateau, PA, USA. The Packera feeds specialist Andrena gardineri solitary bees and Calephelis borealis Northern Metalmark Butterflies. The Iris feeds generalist bees, including queen bumblebees. The combination is a powerful and resilient presence in the garden and a subtle nod to the flag of our Ally. #SlavaUkraini
An under appreciated small woodland Milkweed, Asclepias quadrifolia — four leaf milkweed, stands proudly, brightening the lightly shaded calcareous understory with fragrant flowers. Its short size belies its thick and deep roots that allow it to weather considerable drought and hardship. It can persist! #ENAnativeplant #nativeplant #milkweed #indigenousplant #baserich #calcareous
