You know, I watched the Futurama episode with Bender becoming God of tiny people living on him at least a dozen times.

The premise is that he gets fired out of the torpedo tube while the ship is going at maximum speed and so he's faster than that and they can't catch up to him.

And it is only now that I realize that that makes no sense whatsoever and is not at all how spaceships work 🤦

When you transport something by Car it is called Shipment and when you transport something by Ship it is called Cargo
@maya_b @hacks4pancakes I used to be an enthusiast for "realistic" science fiction. But after reading "Aurora" by Kim Stanley Robinson, "Space Travel: A Science Fiction Writer's Guide" by Ben Bova, and "A City on Mars" by Kelly and Zach Weinersmith, I feel that stories about colonizing Mars aren't much more realistic than stories about wizards and dragons.
Happy 80th Anniversary! 🎉

Today's club championship game.

Annoying. My opponent didn't play the opening well, but I failed to punish that. 7. …Bd6 was a total brain fart, missed that 8. d3 protects e4 🤦
And I saw 16. Qc2 Nxe4 too late. I saw the tactic, but somehow I thought I need to protect my Bishop first *and* then miscalculated the exchanges after 17. Bb2.

Might have won the endgame, but… I suck at endgames. Ultimately, a draw is… okay. But I hate playing evenings, meds run out by then.

"No, actually, I *did* mean to offend a little…"

"The UN World Food Programme says it has depleted all its food stocks in Gaza, where Israel has blocked deliveries of humanitarian aid for seven weeks.

"Today, WFP delivered its last remaining food stocks to hot meals kitchens," it warned. "These kitchens are expected to fully run out of food in the coming days."

Israel cut off aid on 2 March and resumed its offensive two weeks later after the collapse of a two-month ceasefire, saying it was putting pressure on Hamas to release its remaining hostages.

The UN says Israel is obliged under international law to ensure supplies for the 2.1 million Palestinians in Gaza. Israel says it is complying with international law and there is no aid shortage.

At the end of March, all 25 bakeries supported by the WFP in Gaza were forced to close after wheat flour and cooking fuel ran out. Food parcels distributed to families containing two weeks' rations were also exhausted.

Malnutrition is also rapidly worsening, according to the UN. Last week, one of its humanitarian partners screened 1,300 children in northern Gaza and identified more than 80 cases of acute malnutrition - a two-fold increase from previous weeks."
