I'm interested in US & geopolitics.

Representative democracy, individual rights & dialogue are good. Authoritarianism, corruption & big tech are bad.

Elon made me do it.

@WalterShaub Hmm...Everybody who used Twitter DMs to organize during the Trump years should strongly consider their exposure. Those aren't the kind of conversations I'd want others to be privy to.
A reminder that we asked young people to turn out and they did. Latino voters leaned into Democrats. Black men voted overwhelmingly for Stacey. Abortion was top of mind for women. Black women continued to show up strong. The Party should not compromise on the priorities of those voters. They hold the future.
So, if Twitter goes to hell and just becomes defunct, we’re going to lose entire chapters of recent history — including evidence of war crimes, human rights violations, and more. I hope we’re all paying attention to this and considering what we need to do to ensure that a billionaire can’t decide which parts of history to retain — and which parts to erase forever.

@rvawonk @ygalanter He also benefited from a very popular governor sharing the ticket with him. Many Republicans likely only voted for him because they were already there to vote for Kemp. Fingers crossed 🤞

P.S. Good to see you here. :)

@Teri_Kanefield Moving forward, I really think polling aggregators need to weed out partisan-leaning polls, or at the very least appropriately weight them. The demise of Democrats in the polls over the month prior to the election was largely driven by right-leaning pollsters getting it wrong. ("Getting it wrong" is my generous interpretation of their results.)

I had so much fun putting together this week’s editorial cartoon post for my blog.

The Week’s Best Cartoons: About That Red Wave

By Clay Bennett Despite the Republican Party and most of the media buying into the prediction of a red wave, it never materialized on Election Night. In fact, this is the first time since 1936 that…

@dhstokyo Good to see you! Still getting the hang of this. Reach isn't what we had on Twitter, but somewhere along the way, I started to feel like reach on Twitter wasn't actually doing any good. The algorithms' insatiable desire for conflict engagement reduced effectiveness. Anyways, very good to have an alternative!

Per the Nevada Independent, #catherinecortezmasto has been reelected as Senator of #Nevada, thus securing control of the Chamber for Democrats.

The runoff in Georgia on December 6th between Warnock & Walker will be for a 51st seat.

@JugglingWithEggs I haven't exactly had the same experience as I am in the US, but its absolutely true that when you log in on the bird, the first things they show you are designed to piss you off. And they know exactly how to piss you off (thus creating conflict-based engagement) because they know everyone we follow & every post we like. We really need to help folks build up some cognitive defenses to this sort of manipulation because it's all over the place now.
