There are many things I don't understand, but one of the things I do understand very well is human behavior, and I can tell you that most people aren't going to spend hours/days learning how to use a new app. That's why Twitter was so successful -- because it's ridiculously simple. You gotta find a way to make Mastodon as simple as that, or else it won't be sustainable.
I’ve now tried on desktop and mobile to post an image on here. Neither will let me do it. I’m all about supporting new ideas in tech and helping make good ideas happen, but I can’t do that if the service isn’t even functional.
I made a meme and I can’t post it because I can’t post images on here and I’m getting really annoyed about this.
Why can’t I post images on here? It either gives me an error or won’t let me hit “publish”. Anyone else?
So, if Twitter goes to hell and just becomes defunct, we’re going to lose entire chapters of recent history — including evidence of war crimes, human rights violations, and more. I hope we’re all paying attention to this and considering what we need to do to ensure that a billionaire can’t decide which parts of history to retain — and which parts to erase forever.

TwitterWell, I joined Mastodon. Obviously. If you found value in my research on disinformation, malign influence, and weaponized spaces on Twitter, then I hope you’ll follow me here, too! And check out weaponizedspaces.substack.com, where I’ll be writing more in-depth analyses of hostile social manipulation, health comms in adversarial information environments, institutional betrayal, and more.
