Has anyone stopped to look at the some of the #mastodon 's community's response to #raspberrypi ' s hire?
It seems to me a worrying trend towards #twitter behaviour. As far as I can tell, despite a majority of civilised behaviour, there were a lot of knee-jerk attacks. I
If this is the best that the #Fediverse can do, I'll close this instance and find somewhere civilised.
Oh, and before you pile in on me, I'm not supporting RPi's tone deaf actions.

Calculators didn't destroy teaching math. This tech is a calculator for other subjects.
Homework won't be missed. This tech is an infinitely-patient personal tutor. It can teach way better than homework assignments can.
From cheating perspective it's merely a small upgrade. Students have already used other people's help and plagiarized works.
It's not sudden either: OpenAI has been warning about it since 2018, and a homework-capable GPT has been released in 2020.
We should all learn a big lesson from the simultaneous melt-downs of Twitter and Meta:
Don't trust walled gardens. Don't trust lock-in. Don't trust anyone who owns your social data.
Now we're seeing consequences of walled gardens.
