Music from 2009 feels like an eternity ago now.
During that same month when he was going in for surgery I talked him extremely early in the morning and he mentioned first light and I got the sense he was (in his head) back at the Boy Scout camp he ran in the 1970s. He wasn’t agitated at all. Connecting all the dots of life.

This is a fascinating article. In early 2020 my dad was dying in the hospital and the first night I visited with him, while he was still pretty lucid, he asked me if I could turn the kitchen light off before I went upstairs to bed. He knew who I was and that I was visiting but we were back in the house I grew up in that he had moved out of years earlier.

What Deathbed Visions Teach Us About Living

Researchers are documenting a phenomenon that seems to help the dying, as well as those they leave behind.

There was a horrific crash here this week where an entire family was wiped out by a driver going 50-70mph on city streets prior to hitting a bus stop where a family was waiting for the bus to the zoo. We've already heard from the mayor that she isn't sure this qualifies as a Vision Zero issue, but IT IS no matter what the details are. We shouldn't have streets where it's that easy to get up to 70mph. My modest proposal for a street redesign:

It’s “exploring season” for coyotes as the pups leave home. It’s very funny they mention that you should call to report sightings… I see them literally every time I go running in the morning in Golden Gate Park.
