@ahhhful Cunk on Earth is great! The book version is fun, too.
Your local library may have seeds for native plants! If they don't, be the change you want to see 🌺
Yooooo let's goooooooo! https://youtube.com/shorts/Li9JF3ZAJxc?feature=share
For context, chestnut trees used to be an important part of Mid-Atlantic ecosystems before they were basically wiped out by a fungus. Trees which have been resistant to the fungus do not seem to have viable offspring, even if they do flower and give off chestnuts. If bar populations can become resistant to their fungus maybe chestnuts can too!
Could this be a mature American chestnut?! #trees #nativeplants

@emmaleigh504 In my experience, some folks just draw a line at "will probably live long enough to be affected by climate change" and "will probably not live long enough to be affected by climate change." The latter are labeled boomers and the former are millennials or gen z if they remember a time before Facebook or before 9/11 or whatever line they draw.
@killick Thanks! That tool is rad, but I needed to make sure that my balcony wasn't getting shaded out by my building.
I went to the #fcpl library and checked out a book on urban gardening. It's mostly on gardening in the backyard of a row house, but it includes some information of #BalconyGardens too. Time to time out how many hours of sunlight my balcony gets and away we go!

@StillIRise1963 respectfully and without detracting from the sacrifices and victories of the statesmen before us , I believe there is an argument to be made that there is still much to do before we can say that #humanRights are respected by our laws and institutions.
@dcpatton That looks great! Thanks for sharing :)
First making compost, then a balcony garden! I'm thinking of starting off with some beebalm, milkweed, and maybe some tomatoes. What sorts of native plants grow well on balconies? #gardening #composting #urbangardening
