I’m running a Book Arts badge workshop for Girl Scouts at the museum today, and that means I’m running through how I’ll start off. I always begin with the book as a jar, a container for the story or history or diary or what ever the contents will be. Today I’m also thinking about writing—not =what= is written but what it’s meant to accomplish. Why write something down? To remember it—whether it’s a shopping list, or current events, or a random thought. To preserve information. In a jar. A book.
