The way to honor Tyre Nichols is to never stop fighting for justice, to never give up on reform and progress, and to hold fully accountable not only the murderers but the system that gave them the power and the implied permission to take his life so violently and with such evil purpose.
@georgetakei maybe put the exonerated in charge of the kkkops .
Give us the power over their lives that they hold over ours
@georgetakei the System is the War on Drugs: who was George Floyd, who was Tyre Nichols, who are the Four Officers? Who is Chauvin? When a war breeds poverty it breeds crime wich breeds police: the more belligerent both get the violence ensues:
@georgetakei ยงhonor is to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth:
@georgetakei to Honor would be to cease and desist instigating the police, the same instigation, the same police that got Tortugita killed
@WarSmores @georgetakei this has zero to do with Tyre Nichols

@georgetakei

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

@georgetakei reform is useless. nice try though.
@georgetakei Whoa I didn't know you were on Mastodon

@georgetakei
As a person of color how can I put faith in our justice system?

It is designed from top to bottom on the basis of color, religion and privilege of the most powerful ones.

@georgetakei

Agreed.

( Also, while you're up, could we please severely limit gun and ammo sales? Thank You! )

@georgetakei The system would be capitalism. Demilitarize the police, takeaway their immunity, donโ€™t allow internal investigations, stop two siding fascism with anti-fascism, stop misrepresenting defund the police and blaming protestors for fighting for their rights, hold local institutions and departments (including education and healthcare) accountable when studies show disproportionality, and stop defending your party with lame excuses for failing.
@georgetakei the police in the US treats the minority populace mostly as a target for pacifism. They get away with most murders until every so often they're called out on it. There seems to be no end
@georgetakei whenever you see a cop doing anything, anywhere, for any reason, RECORD THEM.
Time to go full paparazzi on the largest, most violent gang in the United States, law enforcement.
@merlecat @georgetakei always keep copies of that video as well. They have a habit of โ€œmisplacingโ€ or using low resolution copies of it to โ€œexonerateโ€ their crimes.
@georgetakei George, you just described the tenets of the Progressives. We need to stand up in numbers never seen before to vote and remove all Republicans from office. They have corrupted every corner of our government
@georgetakei Specifically, educate people about things like LEOBR so we can repeal it. Most people don't even know what that stands for. The advocates have done a terrible job, focusing more on symbolic gestures (statues, flags, etc.) rather than substance.
@georgetakei Why is your society so retarded?
@georgetakei as a German I can only say that I'm afraid of American police. Though as a blonde woman I probably have to worry less than others.
@georgetakei Yes. This is a systemic problem which goes far beyond a few killer cops.
@georgetakei YES, George! I would add that street protests are not enough. Posts are not enough. Emails to the community from white police chiefs are certainly not enough (and offensive if they didnโ€™t do the same regarding murderous white cops). We need to take bolder action, whether voting on police budgets or organizing long term boycotts. We need to stop agonizing about police brutality and start holding their feet to the fire in meaningful ways that demand and get results.
