We love Ady Barkan. He was the best of humanity and he inspired each and every one of us -- because he never stopped believing in us.

Ady's legacy as an activist and organizer is unparalleled in our movement. We will forever be grateful for this progressive hero. Rest in power.

Does anyone affiliated with MIT know of a lab where I can do ion chromatography? I have some measurements that I'm trying to finish for a visiting student who is leaving soon, and am having trouble finding a facility on campus with ion chromatography.

It is unacceptable to ban workers from wearing the protection they need to do their jobs safely. Every state in the country must pass laws like those in California that protect the right of employees to mask.

In-N-Out and Other California Workplaces Can't Prevent Employees From Wearing Masks, Regulators Say | KQED

The iconic California burger joint can't implement an employee mask ban in its home state, where COVID-19 workplace rules allow workers to decide for themselves whether to wear face coverings — at least until February 2025.

You can’t keep approving fossil fuel projects while the world is burning and ignoring the harms of mass reinfection if you are claiming to “follow the science.”
These headlines are 11 days apart. Every time they try to lie and declare COVID is over, this happens:

This isn't a climate solution. We can't "you do you" ourselves out of the climate crisis.

We need federal standards that protect workers from the heat, and to keep fossil fuels in the ground.

Not a fan of this headline. 1.5C is not a “point of no return” for the #climate but rather a global goal to minimize human suffering. It’s not a magical tipping point.

Every fraction of a degree matters (1.5C warming is less bad than 1.6, 1.7 etc.).

Things are already bad - no need to make headlines more alarmist than they need to be!

World hits record land, sea temperatures as climate change fuels 2023 extremes

The target of keeping long-term global warming within 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 Fahrenheit) is moving out of reach, climate experts say, with nations failing to set more ambitious goals despite months of record-breaking heat on land and sea.

Hiltzik: Robert F. Kennedy and the lies of the anti-vaxxers

Robert F. Kennedy is getting a lot of press because of his name, but it's his anti-vaccine claims that need to be scrutinized.

Governor Abbott has now SIGNED two bills that target elections in Houston. One new law upends the entire election administration structure. The other creates new state investigations. Local observers warn that the first law may unleash more chaos that then the state uses to justify jumping in.
