The Farallon AirDock is only advertised as being a way to connect up a PowerBook with infrared wirelessly, but reading the manual, it doesn’t actually need any drivers - just plugging it into the printer port it acts like a normal LocalTalk connection.

The included software is just needed to act as a LocalTalk bridge, or if you want to use the modem port instead.

That’s what gave me the courage to try to just plug it straight into the ImageWriter…

I'm running late, but I am enjoying reading all of this #Marchintosh stuff. It's making me feel that I should poke my own PowerMac with a stick, too.

I have a Graphite PowerMac with dual 450 MHz G4s and a clean install of OS 10.4.6. I am also nearly entirely unfamiliar with this era of Macs. Is there a safe and reasonable way to get applications on here over the Internet anymore? Or am I stuck with ferrying software over at USB 1.1 speeds?

As #MARCHintosh comes to a close, I wanted to start an early celebration of #macOS (previously OS X, Mac OS X) 25th birthday. Although it’s technically 26 years old if you include the public unveiling and the public beta #Kodiak. macOS has come a long way since it came to market. Comparing the Cheetah and Tahoe, they are radically different operating systems but remain strikingly similar in many ways. You could sit down a user from opposite eras and they would be able to figure it out. #Apple

It’s a #MARCHintosh miracle - FedEx dropped off some special analog boards early for the ZZJ SE/30 LCD kit.

Next on the list for a “blackout” is a BlueSCSI.

After the Apple deal collapsed, Be had to reinvent itself.
BeOS 5 seemed to get a lot right — the Personal Edition spread everywhere, even booting straight from DOS. Time to step into the x86 PC era.

I thought I would finally get the first Mac I ever owned onto #GlobalTalk for #MARCHintosh by picking up a set of (cheap) adapters to go from mini-DIN-8 (female) to DB-9 (male). While I can see traffic being sent and received from the AsantePrint box that connects the Mac over LocalTalk, no zones are visible and I suspect that I will have to make a crossover connection for the two essential pins. Ugh. So close.

Transfer Point will be available this Friday, March 27. You’ll be able to play it for free in your browser at https://robotspacer.software. A downloadable version will be available for $5 on https://robotspacer.itch.io to play on your own classic Mac or emulator. The download includes a PDF of the illustrated manual. #MARCHintosh

On Friday at 8PM EDT I’ll celebrate with a launch party on Twitch, talking about the game and checking out a bunch of other games made in World Builder! You can see my schedule in your local time zone here: https://robotspacer.tv #MARCHintosh

I’m a software designer and developer, but here I play adventure games—mostly older ones from the 80s and 90s. I love taking notes and drawing maps.

This #marchintosh I really wanted to do some retro gaming on my Macs. Sadly so far I've not found time. But I just fired up Unreal Tournament and had a blast for 20 minutes! That was a lot of fun. Must try harder!
