40something lesbian settler trying to live well on Yuin country, thinking about tarot, trauma (specifically c-PTSD), magic(k), the state of the world under heteropatriarchal white-supremacist extractive capitalism, and books.

My name comes from DWJ's The Year of the Griffin and my avatar comes from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's The Little Prince.

Just signed up for this course from the Institute of Modern Magic (having signally failed to get anywhere with my self-paced scrying course at the start of the year). I'm excited but also nervous, especially as I'm also getting into better relation with Country here and am unsure about using borrowed magickal traditions on Indigenous land.

@evan I'm not saying it doesn't have utility. I'm talking about what it's _for_. Uber has utility for many, but its purpose is to undermine mass transit and cab drivers in order to centralize transportation in a for-profit system. It is weird to talk about these technologies as if one output of them is the reason they exist.

We've been talking about books obtained, but roughly how many books do you read or listen to in an average year?

(Please boost widely for better sample size).

Really a lot going on at work and in general (I'm trying to lead a potentially very cool project which is leading to some intense pushback - bordering on personal attacks - from people in my department) and my psyche decided now was the time to suddenly remember being hit repeatedly by my college boyfriend for not answering his questions (under the guise of a fun sex game!). THANK YOU PSYCHE, great timing. Ugh. (I am okay, I have support in place!)

@shade1959

The party hasn’t actually stood FOR anything since they ousted Corbyn. Whatever his (real) faults, the reason the membership rallied behind him is because he proposed policies that would have relieved us from some of this reactionary Game of Thrones bullshit that’s killing people.

I am depressed! And also sick of being depressed! METADEPRESSED.

(Not very depressed, still going around the place as usual and able to imagine what it would be like to not be depressed. Well, not "imagine" so much as "wonder".) (Anyway no need to worry, I am just complaining as is my birthright)

The rain seems to be talking to me at the moment - not in the sense that I hear things in its pattering pattern, but in the sense that its timing has been really aligned with some stuff happening in my life/heart. Anyone have good practices or ideas for working with rain? I'm a settler in Australia, so it's a tricky space - I'm sure there's deeply established Indigenous ways here, but I don't have access to them #rain #magick #australia #settler
After nearly a year of table work (https://wisebodytherapy.com/my-tools/healing-developmental-trauma-table-work-touch-therapy/) I am starting to be much more connected to my body as a sort of baseline/ "new normal" and, frankly, IT HURTS IN HERE AND EVERYTHING IS SAD. #trauma #traumarecovery #recovery #body
Healing Developmental Trauma with Table Work and Touch Therapy - wisebodytherapy.com

“Before there are words, there is the wordless communication of the body.” — Michael Changaris, Psy.D. When early trauma is not addressed in therapy and remains untreated, it becomes deeply held at body level. This foundational dysregulation can cause severe somatic/medical symptoms for the young child and much later for the adult. There is a […]
