I have discovered granny square sweaters.

The first one is a sunflower cardigan for me. The second one is a heart pullover for my younger child, who immediately saw my cardigan and wanted a sweater of his own (and I was very bored of flowers by then).

I’m a little late this month, but here’s my Book Scarf update for March! Less progress, but more colors. So this is 25% (give or take) of the scarf’s finished length. And blocking it into any semblance of even-ness is going to be fun. But I’m still loving the project. #knitting #DHmakes

Book scarf project update: this is January and February. February begins at the arrow.
One row is 100 pages and each yarn represents a different genre.

Apparently fantasy made a comeback this month and I read 17 books total. (And details about the books are here: https://app.thestorygraph.com/stats/lizshayne?year=2024&month=2 )

Despite my worst predictions, I not only finished this project in a reasonable amount of time, but also before this year ended.
Also I love it a LOT.

Pattern is Where the Forest Meets the Sea by the incomparable Nim Teasdale. #knitting

(This shawl is dedicated to the numerous institutions I am part of and the meetings that they let me knit during. We all appreciate it.)

My Chanukah present had made it to its recipient and I am so very proud of how well it came out.
The recipient is a Jane Austen fan, like me.
Still needs blocking and tassels, but otherwise done! #krakenshawl #crochet
(I’d like to thank all the institutions whose meetings have given me ample work hours to complete this project - your willingness to let me craft to keep my focus on the conversation is so appreciated.)
I’m thinking “Crocheter of unnecessarily complicated grocery bags” might be a new moniker to embrace.
#crochet pattern is Summer Vibes Trail tote bag NorthernLightsTrail.
In my ongoing quest to keep #ShabbosReads a thing, I present this week.
I’m about 1/3 of the way through Priya Parker’s The Art of Gathering at the moment.
@Gaileyfrey’s The Echo Wife was not a great book to start at 9pm and still intend to go to bed at a reasonable hour but I persevered because it was stunning.
@Tkdano’s Under the Henfluence made me laugh and take delight and go on a walk with my youngest to see the neighborhood chickens.
My first tomatoes of the year are here!
I’m also growing peppers for the first time and realizing I have no idea what they look like when they’re ready.
