I am an impossible alien Othergender Dragon who tattoos trees with the queerest most sinister ink and I hurt all the time.

@jessmahler I'm afraid I can only witness on this.

Or, maybe to add... if you feel like you are otherwise being institutionally deprived of a place at the table, that's probably enough to justify agitating for getting a place - and, as they say these days, leveraging your privilege afterwards to help out other groups with less chance than yourself.

If I ask for inclusion, will I be talking over PoC? Playing oppression olympics? Or do I belong at this table, demanding change not just on behalf of my friends, partners, and allies, but for myself as well?

But when I see things like "publishing so white", and I remember that it's only a few years since an anti-Semetic SHIT SHOW of a book won one of the biggest awards in US publishing...

I have wonder where I fit?

Am I one of the white people who are dominating publishing? Or will I welcome as someone calling for diversity that includes me and my experiences?

The fucking President is talking to Jewish Americans and referring the Prime Minister of Israel as 'your prime minister.'

It doesn't get much more 'you're not really American' than that.

It's not even 'go back where you came from', it's 'you were never really here in the first place.'

And I'm not trying to deny the privilege I've had until now. I know that I still am white as these things are counted in America and get privilege because of that.

The sixth annual international Gender Census 2019 is now open until 25th March!

It's for anyone whose genders (or lack thereof) aren't described by the M/F binary. It's short and easy, and the results are useful in academia, business, and self-advocacy.

"One of the most celebrated and beloved literary epics in China, Jin Yong’s Legend of the Condor Heroes has been the country’s premier wuxia—a blending of history, martial arts action, and fantasy—for more than half a century. Now, St. Martin’s Press is proud to publish the first English-language translation of the classic saga for U.S. readers, starting with A Hero Born."

alentine's ay.

For those of us who will be getting neither the V nor the D today.

Just want to share a quick useful tip I learned from a police officer today.

If you work in a setting where you've to shake a lot of strangers hands, like I do.

You'll sometimes find that some people (cough, men), is out to crush every bone in your hand.

What you can do to avoid having your fingers broken, is to put your index finger on their wrist. This way, they can't put as much force into the handshake.

I had no clue about this, and all this time I've suffered 😫

@jessmahler collar of your shirt, you meander towards a rather disciplined display: two people marching around - one entirely naked and the other in the expected military dress - and performing the every order barked out by a person standing rigid and formal in harajuku dress.
@jessmahler the next week you tiptoe back along this kinky street, this time finding a large sign held by a ball and string hanging from the mouth of a person suspended from sturdy bars. Several spotters and spectators surround them, for safety and titillation. As you continue on your way, you come face to bum with a person bracing themselves on a crate, awaiting blows from a paddle held by a gleeful goth character in a wheelchair. Tugging at the
