The photo is not me. I thought it was like this for everyone.

If you’re upset about high gas prices, climate change, and environmental destruction, remember 3 things:

1—Exxon posted $9.1B in earnings for Q3 of 2023

2—US Congress subsidizes $10B+ annually for Exxon & fossil fuel mega corps

3—My opponent for US Congress takes campaign contributions from Exxon and promotes fracking😳

We don’t have to tolerate this anti-science, anti climate, and anti-environmental status quo.

When I tell people children are being slaughtered, and they want to know which children before moving into outrage mode or justification mode - that mentality, that conditional humanity, is exactly the problem.

Here's the deal.

If you're a politician who takes money from mega corporations who union bust, pay a sub living wage, or shipped jobs overseas—don't patronize working people with empty statements of solidarity with United Auto Workers and other Unions.

Had you been principled & held corporations accountable in the first place, maybe workers wouldn't need to strike and put themselves at such risk for basic human dignity.

Leadership is action, not lip service.

Wow!😳 Texas teacher fired after assigning an illustrated Anne Frank book

Censoring one of the most important works documenting the Holocaust and punishing the teacher who dared teach it is pretty much in line with what fascists do. Horrific antisemitism.

Justice Alito is refusing recusal from a SCOTUS tax case where the lawyer—David Riven—just interviewed him for WSJ & represents billionaire Leonard Leo—known for buying SCOTUS seats.

Previously, Alito:
•Refused to recuse from an Exxon case—while owning Exxon stock—boosting Exxon value $23B
•Refused to recuse from billionaire Paul Singer's cases—while taking undisclosed $150K trip w/Singer
•Likely leaked Dobbs decision

This is overt corruption. SCOTUS needs ethics reform to maintain legitimacy.

@juglugs I also read Hannah Arendt's Eichmann in Jerusalem. The subtitle is very apt: On the Banality of Evil. She made the point that it wasn't just the handful of monsters and sociopaths at the top, but rather a mass of ordinary, average Germans who enabled and empowered the actions of the state by simply "following orders."

That postwar excuse was recently used by defendants in the trials of the Jan. 6 insurrectionists.

@juglugs They weren’t normal- they were told Jews killed their god by Christianity for 500 years.
Russia has been told this lie for 600 years. The US has been told this lie for 200 years. It’s a lie. No one can even name anything more fake than a God. It’s infantile & pathetic.
Racism, Sexism, Ageism, Anti-Intellectualism & Sheer Lunacy is all Christians use to argue with. They can not be reasoned with-and they wear it as a badge of honor; Just like the tortured jew on their necklaces.

@juglugs

I've covered extremism and violent ideologies around the world over my career. Have never come across a political force more nihilistic, dangerous & contemptible than today's Republicans. Nothing close. - Edward Luce, Financial Times

I agree. And I was the CIA Director. - General Michael Hayden

(Exchange on Twitter before that shithole platform itself was transformed into a megaphone for Nazis by an absolutely despicable Nazi enabler, Elon Musk.)

@kierkegaank @juglugs

It is about resentment, dissatisfaction and jealousy... a poisonous cocktail. It's about finding a scapegoat and blaming. Easy solutions and the aggressive underbelly. It only needs a trigger, a populist pied piper... and followers...

"When you study the Holocaust on an academic level, you learn two things: First, yes, however bad you thought the Nazis were, they were worse. And second, they were totally average, ordinary people. The second point is key. It's why historians are warning us now about Republicans."

And I think that today's Nazis in the USA and UK are further to the right than Hitler was at this stage of his rise. The Germans didn't just march in and start gassing Jews on Day 1.
