Vox has a nice profile on probable future House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. He's a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and the Congressional Black Caucus. Democrats across the spectrum support him, from Squad members Ilhan Omar and Jamaal Bowman to Josh Gottheimer, one of the more moderate Democrats and a member of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus. Not everyone is a fan (discussed in the article), but Jeffries has pledged to work with the entire Democratic caucus and will try to work across the aisle where possible. He's not an apologist for Republicans and spoke out passionately against the big lie.

How Hakeem Jeffries, Nancy Pelosi’s likely successor, could lead House Democrats

Jeffries is known for bringing different groups together, though he’s also clashed with some progressives along the way.

@karoli Thanks for this coverage. Naomi Biden is a private citizen who got married at her grandfather’s residence, which happens to be federal property. Her grandparents paid for her wedding, a normal thing for grandparents to do. Taxpayers didn’t pay. The press has no need to cover it just because her grandfather is the president. He’s allowed to attend a family event without us being in his business, and her father is also allowed to attend family events. I read a lot of political coverage every day, and Naomi Biden getting married isn’t political. It’s a feature. Robin Givhan can write about her dress or what the guests wore if she gets that opportunity. (I enjoy reading the Style section of the Post too. But that’s enjoyment and not need-to-know.)

Naomi Biden can also choose to do a feature in Vogue. Private citizens do that too.

Since I’m not on the bird site, I only see tweets embedded in articles like that.. All I can say to Parker and the rest (not Schultz or Froomkin):

If you’re afraid that books might change someone’s thinking, you’re not afraid of books, you’re afraid of thinking.
We stay and fight on Twitter. We will outlast the narcissists/crazies. However, also good to have alternatives. So far I have been using Mastodon and http://post.news which is in beta testing & has a waitlist that goes quickly.

Good morning and Happy Tuesday to everyone who agrees that Richard Fierro, Thomas Jane, and a drag performer in heels have more courage and saved more lives than the entire Republican party combined.

Those 3 are real heroes.

Good morning court watchers.
I will be on the lookout for a verdict in the Oath Keepers seditious conspiracy trial but if I had to guess, jurors are likely to take the full day to deliberate before they break for the Thanksgiving holiday.

If that happens, then we can expect to see them return on Monday to continue weighing a verdict.

Just re-read Montejo v. Louisiana (2009) and wow--it is an incredibly terrible opinion.
5-4 the Supreme Court just eviscerates the distinction between the Sixth Amendment right to counsel and the prophylactic right to counsel under Miranda.
