New TV programme idea:
The Despair Shop
A small barn somewhere in the middle of nowhere. People bring in their treasured possessions along with heartwarming back stories. The team of experts are very receptive and discuss what works would need to be done to restore them back to their former glory... then smash them to bits with hammers.
Endlessly entertaining.

The person in front of me in the coffee shop has just ordered a "cappuccino with no foam".
The very apparent dead stare from the barista followed by an "okay, coming up" suggested that this is not a one-off.
(My temptation to order a Spanish latte without the milk was, mercifully, avoided)
