Finally, the customization features of the Fediverse allow for a more streamlined experience, and the privacy and censorship features are unmatched. I was not bombarded with advertisements, and there was less competition for my attention when compared to my experiences on Facebook, TikTok, or Instagram. However, it will get some getting used to since the people I frequently converse with are off this social network. The character limit of 500 is disappointing, hence my segmented posts.
Of the people I follow, it was interesting to read the article euobserver.com/opinion/157187 on @alberto_cottica’s page about the ethical issues that were found with Google and Meta and the recommendations for mitigating those issues.
I also interacted with @meredithlowry, who made an excellent suggestion for a thought-provoking read by Jessica Silbey. @meredithlowry responded, reassuring me that it was an excellent book to get into, which was nice.

It is interesting that I stumbled upon this #post this week as I am currently taking a #Communications #Ethics class this summer. It just seems like #Meta is always at the center of some ethical controversy, and this story reinforces why no one (or, in this case, two) tech company should have majority control.

This is rather unfortunate. This post makes me think about how many places I enjoy visiting or even those I would like to visit in the future will be around when I get a chance to visit them. As someone born and raised on the Nature Isle of the Caribbean (Dominica), a nature lover, photographer, and videographer, this was heart-wrenching to consider that flames can expunge all the beauty in nature.
