On May 3, 1980 environmental activists squatted a former test site for nuclear waste, establishing it as the "Free Republic of Wendland". Nearly 1000 people joined the camp which soon had a theater, , church, workshops, and pirate radio station. Local farmers were supportive, contributing food and construction materials. On June 4, the center-right regional government sent in Police tanks, water cannon and bulldozers and destroyed the village. But some still fly the flag at demos in Germany.
The first German woman to program a computer was Ursula Walk, in 1948, while working for Konrad Zuse, who built the first digital computer in Germany.

It was pretty satisfying to do a little more serious micro-

#balcony this year. I was most surprised by the potatoes. They were super happy in a big reusable plastic shopping bag and the flowers were nice. I had no idea they were such attractive plants. Next year I will have to try some more high-tech circulating dirt-free systems and other plants.
Scandinavian toothpaste is kinda weird.
