It was clear before today, but for everyone not paying attention, for the police doing their job means protecting fascists, bigots, and property.
TERFs/misogynist feminists are more than happy to hang with Nazis. They are not playing defence, they are attacking the rights of Trans people, especially women.
Strength comes though solidarity, and we only solidarity from groups like Socialist Alternative/Vic Socialists so long as it is self serving, they may have some great people in their ranks, but their movement apparatus is toxic and broken.
The government, no matter what words of comfort they might give, are of the capital class, and for the capital class, they exist to extend their own power rather than help people, and those who are good rarely last long.
If we have hope, it’s because the systems rot is starting to stink enough to get more people on board, but there’s no space to stand back, get involved and help the fight for a world we can be proud of.
