My interests are CW, contesting (including multi-op with my XYL and kids), POTA, ragchewing, 2m simplex, and giving the ARRL a hard time.

I live near Trenton, SC, which is 20 miles north of Augusta, GA.

Hobbies are reading, cooking with cast iron, lifting weights, hiking, and minimalist camping.

I hate politics with a passion and the herd mentality (both left and right) that comes with it.

The 1980s were the best decade. Fight me.

@N2DYI I see that now. I was half asleep when I read your first post. Lol. My apologies.
@vk6flab really starting to like you Onno.
@N2DYI indeed. We don’t fool with that. We’re very informal. Our bigger priority is who is where, consistent monitoring, consistent informal simplex use, etc. Emergency communications are worthless if no one is listening.

@N2DYI we have a 2m simplex net around my rural QTH in SC. Those who participate also monitor 24/7. Most of us can reach over to Augusta, GA

They’ve been laying fiber in our county and we’ve been losing internet/phone several times per week. A medical emergency (like a cardiac arrest) with no neighbors and no phone would be really bad. Only option would be amateur radio.

Those are the scenarios I think about vs zombie apocalypse.

@G4IVV my N1MM spectrum displays spots without having to do any of that. Quite possible I’m misunderstanding what you’re saying though. I’m using a 590SG.
@M0YNG I like it
Using drones to remove ice from power lines
@N0ZB @Geojoek I use a doublet at home and for POTA. Mine are all 102’ due to space issues. I’ve placed well in contests and I think the null problem is way overblown.
@N0ZB that’s a rough one.
